So some time ago, I helped write a policy brief that was funded by the New York State Health Foundation. The policy brief is a set of recommendations prepared by the Center for Active Design, based on a pilot study conducted by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The pilot study was conducted in the Arbor House residential development in the South Bronx, New York; and a follow up data collection occurred in Prospect Plaza in Brownsville, New York to examine the impact of Active Design strategies on residents' health. This last part of the work I especially enjoyed - getting to meet the future residents of Prospect Plaza and taking baseline measurements was intimate and eye-opening.
